Name:
Abby Reeds (formerly Abby French)
Job Title:
SAgE Learning Partnerships Manager
Background:
Part of the SAgE Faculty's Business, Innovation and Skills team, Abby leads the Learning Partnerships Team, developing and implementing initiatives to connect our Newcastle University students with industry, business and charitable organisations in order to enrich their educational experience. Abby is passionate about enabling students to have as wide and varied engagement with industry as possible, regardless of their personal backgrounds, thereby equipping them to be the sought-after science, engineering and agriculture graduates of the future. In this she is supporting the University's Education Strategy.
In parallel to that, Abby supports increasing the availability of Newcastle University SAgE expertise available more widely across the region and beyond, through provision of Lifelong Learning and Continuing Professional Development. In that capacity, it is always good to hear what business is looking for.
Abby joined SAgE faculty in October 2019 initially looking after activity in Engineering and Natural & Environmental Sciences. She has both industry and academic experience having been an undergrad, postgrad, research and more recently a mature student and in between, having spent over 20 years as a geophysicist in the international energy sector. In this she worked closely with other scientists, various engineering disciplines, economists and legal teams and spent a lot of time in Africa, the Middle East and beyond.
Being a native of Newcastle, Abby is so excited about the future of this region and works to understand the skills challenges that industry is facing and which this University can contribute to meeting.
Qualifications:
