During these challenges, you’ll work on real-world data challenges, using specialist software. Our challenges are based on real-world research projects happening at Newcastle University.

The Digital Skills Lab offers:

  • beginner and intermediate skills challenges
  • self-paced challenges, so you can practice in your own time
  • Open Badges for your CV and LinkedIn profile upon completion

We're offering a range of Python and R programming skills challenges through Canvas. 

More topics, and skills challenges, will be added throughout the year.

Who can join? 

This pilot programme is only open to students studying in these schools:

  • School of Computing
  • School of Engineering
  • School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics
  • School of Natural and Environmental Sciences
  • Newcastle University in Singapore

The Digital Skills Lab is an online platform where you can complete short skills challenges. You can also use it to test and improve your digital skills.

All our challenges are based on real-world data challenges, taken from Newcastle University's research projects.
