What is involved?

We will be running an event every day Monday to Friday, during the week commencing 14th July. Each day will run from 10:00 to 14:15.

The day will include the following four sessions, designed to support your year 12 students as they prepare to enter year 13.

Sixth Form Study Skills

Delivered by our skills Library Outreach team, we give your students practical guidance to support them through their studies as they approach their final year of college/sixth form. We'll demonstrate how to make the most of our free online study skills resources, which are a fantastic tool to support students with their final year studies.

UCAS and Personal Statements

Our recent graduates will introduce the UCAS process, including an overview of how to prepare a UCAS personal statement, taking into account the new format.

Campus Tour

Take a tour of our campus, led by current Newcastle University students. If your students have any particular subject interests, let us know and we'll aim to tailor the tour where possible.

Student Life at Newcastle University

Hear from recent graduates about what it's like to study at Newcastle University.

Event aims and impact

Supporting your students with their progression to higher education

The Bridging the Gap events aim to support the development of student study skills. We also aim to make students more comfortable with the university application process and with what they can expect when they begin university.

Practical tools to develop study skills

During the event, we will show students how to make best use of our online Study Skills resources. We'll also encourage students to join the Newcastle University Library - a free service available to local sixth form students.
