Singapore-based Students Visit Newcastle University's Home Campus for the Overseas Immersion Programme
Newcastle students who are enrolled under the Newcastle University – Singapore Institute of Technology (NU-SIT) joint degree programmes in Singapore had the opportunity to visit the home campus as part of the Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP) from 8 to 27 July 2024.
The Faculty of Science, Agriculture & Engineering warmly welcomed 233 engineering students during their three-week stay. This immersive programme is a mandatory component for all students completing the NU-SIT joint degree programmes.
The participating OIP students are pursuing the following degree programmes at the SIT campus in Singapore:
- Electrical Power Engineering
- Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Engineering
- Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
The OIP is designed to enrich students’ learning experiences and provide a taste of the Newcastle campus life. During their stay, students attended lectures, engaged in hands-on project work, participated in workshops, and went on industry visits. This programme also offered them the chance to interact with university professors and academic mentors, while exploring the vibrant culture and scenic beauty of England’s north-east region.
