Staff Profile
I am very pleased to be able to bring to Newcastle University my 19 years of experience in teaching modern foreign languages to 11–18-year-olds, as well as extensive experience of teaching languages in primary schools. I also used to be a mentor for PGCE students at Newcastle University, but nowadays my time is shared between teaching French to primary children, to UG students and students on the University Wide Language Programme. I am also the module leader for SML4003, Advocating and Teaching Languages in Schools. In addition, I am on the committee of the Association for Language Learning (ALL) and regularly speak for them at conferences. In addition, I have a passion for all types of books, but especially pictures books: I love to tell a good story (in French!) in my lessons!
I currently teach French to undergraduates (levels B and C) as well as on the University Wide Language Programme (UWLP) at the lower intermediate and upper intermediate levels. I am a native French speaker.
In addition, I am the module leader for SML4003: "Advocating and Teaching Languages in Schools" - as I am a trained and experienced secondary school languages teacher, this is a great opportunity for me too.
