“INFLUENCE OF CHANGES IN INTERPRETERS’ EMOTIONAL STATES ON THEIR PERFORMANCE IN SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETING”

Abstract

As a product of social interaction, interpreting can be seen as emotional work given its mediating effects, professionalism and emotional involvement of the interpreter. While emotions play a key role in emotional work, scarce research has been found on the influence of emotions on interpreters’ performance in simultaneous interpreting. This research project aims to fill up the research gap by exploring the influence of changes in interpreters’ emotions on their performance in simultaneous interpreting, with images and music as emotional stimuli.
