Cultural Exchange Blossoms: Confucius Institute and East Boldon Infant School Collaborate for Chinese New Year Workshops
The Confucius Institute at Newcastle University collaborated with East Boldon Infant School for the first time to host a series of Chinese New Year workshops. The workshops, held from January 31st to February 2nd, featured activities such as Chinese martial arts, calligraphy, and paper cutting, attracting nearly 200 enthusiastic participants.
East Boldon Infant School, guided by the motto "Together everyone achieves more," has always been committed to providing comprehensive educational experiences. This collaboration marked the school's first large-scale Chinese cultural event, warmly received by both students and teachers.
Tailored for children aged 4 to 6, the workshops provided hands-on experiences in Chinese martial arts, calligraphy, and paper cutting. Incorporating elements of fun and interactive learning, teachers guided the children to explore the charm of traditional Chinese culture, resulting in lively and joyful cultural experiences.
Led by teacher Yingying Wei from the Confucius Institute, the Chinese martial arts workshop introduced students to the beauty of martial arts through a dynamic teaching approach, fostering excitement and teamwork among participants.

With themes related to the Chinese New Year, the workshops offered children not only a glimpse into Chinese culture but also a sense of joy and accomplishment through writing and paper cutting activities.
