Visual versus written health warnings on alcohol packaging

The use of visual versus written health warnings on alcohol packaging to promote safer drinking habits
It is well known visual health warnings are effective in reducing tobacco use. However, research on the use of this packaging for alcohol consumption is sparse. The proposed project will examine a range of alcohol packaging with various health warnings to determine how best to promote safer patterns of alcohol use (e.g., reduced binge drinking). Findings will inform subsequent interdisciplinary projects and funding applications which will examine how alcohol packaging may alter neural responses linked to addiction, in addition to assessing long-term impacts on risky alcohol use. Cumulative findings of this research programme may inform public health initiatives and policy.
