Our Student Engagement Team can help with any non-academic questions you have. You can contact them by:

Academic support
The University offers a range of academic support services.
Undergraduate and postgraduate taught programme students are assigned a personal tutor. You should contact your personal tutor if you have personal difficulties that may affect your ability to:
- attend University
- complete your academic work
Postgraduate research students should contact their supervisor/s. They can also access support from the Doctoral College.
Wellbeing support
You'll find our student wellbeing advisers in your academic school. They provide a listening and support service to help you gain the most from your university experience.
Student wellbeing advisers can signpost you to other support services. These include our central Student Health and Wellbeing services.
Library support
Feeling nervous about studying at university for the first time? It's natural to be apprehensive!
Check out our 'Get Ready to Study' collection on the Academic Skills Kit website. This contains resources and practical advice to help you prepare for studying at Newcastle University. It explains some of the differences about study at university and how you will learn the skills to become an independent learner.
Every new undergraduate at Newcastle University is assigned a Peer Mentor. Their role is to welcome you to the University and help you transition smoothly into your programme. Learn what to expect and how to make the most of this scheme.
Careers support
Navigating the job market can be challenging. To help you succeed, we recommend exploring the Careers Service website where you can:
- Search and sign up for our events and workshops
- Discover tailored support for undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Find out about work experience, part-time jobs and the graduate recruitment market
- Understand the different stages of the recruitment process
- Access resources available for international students
In your first few weeks, look out for Careers Service talks and inductions in your timetable. You can also book an online or in-person appointment through MyCareer for 1:1 support.
Newcastle University Students’ Union (NUSU)
When you become a student at Newcastle University, you also become a member of the Students’ Union (NUSU). NUSU is an independent organisation run by students for students.
Students' Union membership gives you access to:
- events
- opportunities
- clubs
- societies
NUSU also campaigns to improve your study experience.
