City Nature Challenge 2025

Various

The City Nature Challenge (CNC) is a global competition that is taking place Friday 25th April - Monday 28th April. Using the iNaturalist app, regions compete to record the most records and the most species!

Environmental Records Information Centre (ERIC) North East are running the CNC across the whole of the North East. To participate, you can join some of the free events that will be taking and log your own sightings across the weekend.

All you need to do is:

1. Download the iNaturalist app

2. Join the City Nature Challenge 2025: North East England Project

3. Find wildlife and take a photo or make a sound recording of what you find

4. Upload your observation to the app

Over the weekend from Friday 25th April – Monday 28th April, go out and use iNaturalist to see what you can find! Any wildlife, plants, animals or fungi and even evidence of wildlife, like tracks and feathers, counts.
