£100K Donation to Mitochondrial Disease from 96 year old Chris Bates
96-Year-old Chris Bates has donated £100k to Mitochondrial Disease Research in memory of his two sons Kenneth and Peter, who both died from the condition. £100K Donation to Mitochondrial Disease Research
The donation has been given to the Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research at Newcastle University by 96-Year-old Chris Bates. The funds are in memory of his two sons, Kenneth and Peter, who both died from the condition.
It wasn’t until after Kenneth and Peter passed away that Chris discovered they had been suffering from mitochondrial disease. Since then, it has been his life ambition to support research that can eradicate the disease.
