LGBTQ+ History Month Lecture

The Museum of Transology is now the world's largest collection of artefacts relating to trans, non-binary and intersex people's lives. In this session, you'll hear curator E-J Scott unpack the MoT's museological approach to collecting as a form of direct action. He'll argue that museums have social agency, and that by reclaiming a place in them, you tell society - and your own community - that you have a right to 'belong'

E-J Scott is a curator, cultural producer and academic and winner of the UK’s Activist Museum Award 2020/21. Their interventive curatorial methodologies include arts participation as hyper-localised occupation, community-led collecting as direct museological action and the queering of digital borders. They are the founder of the British Digital Art Network, the UK’s first national curatorial, academic and artist network to collectively interrogate the impact of the field on the UK art world.
