Professor Steve O’Rahilly is one of the UK’s most renowned clinical researchers who has combined clinical practice with scientific and clinical studies. His research has focused on the causes at a molecular level of Type 2 diabetes and obesity. His work has uncovered several previously unrecognised genetic causes of these diseases including some that are amenable to specific treatment.
