Medical emergencies

For emergencies on campus, call university security on 0191 208 6817 (available 24/7).

if you or someone you're with is experiencing a medical emergency away from campus or you're in immediate danger, call 999 or go to your nearest accident and emergency (A&E) department.

Need emergency contraception? You can only get this from A&E departments when no other clinics are open, e.g. bank holidays and weekends.‌

Medical help

If you think you need medical help right now, use the NHS online 111 service or call 111 for medical advice over the phone. Your doctor's surgery should also have a recorded message with information on who to contact in an emergency. If you haven't already, please remember to register yourself with a GP surgery.

Newcastle Dental Hospital

The dental hospital operates an emergency clinic Monday-Friday (except bank holidays) from 8.45am each morning. You're strongly advised to attend as early as possible as only a limited number of patients can be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Meningitis

You could be more vulnerable to viral meningitis due to living in housing or halls with multiple people. Knowing the signs and symptoms of meningitis is vital and could save a life.

Sexual health

It's important to be aware of, and to take care of, your sexual health. If you want to talk about any aspect of your sexual health, you can make a confidential appointment at your local NHS sexual health service.
