Financial Support

Our Student Financial Support Team has a range of support available to help students make the most of their time at University.  

Funding 

A range of scholarships and bursaries are available to support UK, EU and International students. Eligibility criteria and scholarships awards can vary. Some scholarships are available on a competitive basis.  

Discretionary financial support is available to help students who have accessed all other sources of funding and who are struggling to cover their living costs. Short-term interest free emergency loans are also available on a discretionary basis to help students who have completely exhausted their funds and who are unable to cover essential costs as well as funding to help students who don’t have access to adequate IT provision to allow then to engage with their course. Due to the discretionary nature of these funding schemes there is no automatic entitlement. Students wishing to apply for this support will need to complete an application form and provide supporting documentation such as bank statements.  

Summer research funding is available on a competitive basis for those students who are interested in undertaking a research project or an expedition during the long vacation.  

Advice 

The Student Financial Support Team can also provide advice, guidance and support to students about a range of student finance related matters such as student loan funding and managing your money. 

Appointments 

You can meet with a Student Finance Adviser using the online booking system. Self-referring appointments are available every Tuesday and Thursday either:  

• online (9:00 – 16:00) 
• in person in King’s Gate (13:00 – 16:00)
