Introduction
Jenny studied for a Law Degree (University of Newcastle), MA in Criminal Justice Studies (University of Leeds) and Diploma in Legal Practice (Leeds Metropolitan University). Work in practice includes family law and child law and as a volunteer case-worker at a Law Centre in the areas of family, housing, employment, immigration and welfare law. Jenny came to Newcastle, as a Lecturer in October 2007, having previously worked in the School of Law, University of Glasgow from October 2005 and within the Institute for the Study of the Legal Profession, Law School, University of Sheffield, from October 1998. Jenny has worked on numerous research funded projects including the Home Office Independent Evaluation of Restorative Justice Schemes and Home Office Independent Evaluation of Statutory Time Limit Pilots in the Youth Court, DCA funded project looking at the Non Legally Qualified Advisors and their Clients - Perceptions of Quality (PI) as well as various Scottish Government funded research projects. These projects have involved both quantitative and qualitative methods of research. Jenny recently sat on the Steering Group on the Young Victims of Crime Project, Scoping a National Service Model for Young Victims of Crime in Scotland - a project led by Victim Support Scotland and funded by the Scottish Government. Jenny also served as a Chair Panel Member for the Children's Hearings System in Scotland (2009-2015).

Pilot study exploring the Experiences of Minority Ethnic Women involved in Criminal Proceedings
Funding
I have worked on a number of projects receiving grants as PI and as part of a collaborative group from various funders including the Home Office, Department of Constitutional Affairs, Scottish Government, ECHR and EOC amongst others. Much of this has involved collaborative work and mixed methods research - examples include a project with Sacro considering the Potential for Restorative Justice: Survivors of Historical Institutional Abuse. I was PI for research considering clients perceptions of and quality of the legal advice provided by non-legally qualified advisors. (Non- Legally Qualified Advisors and Their Clients (2005) funded by the then DCA).Therapeutic Support for Adult Witnesses in Criminal and Civil Proceedings (with Profs. Michele Burman, Amina Memon (Scottish Government)). Policy Responses to Gender Violence in Scotland (with Michele Burman and Scottish Women's Aid, funded by EHRC). Guidance on the Gender Equality Duty for Criminal Justice Agencies (Burman, M; Johnstone, J and Leacock, V, funding from EOC). HO Independent Evaluation of Restorative Justice Schemes (2001-2009) (with Prof Joanna Shapland et al, funded by Home Office); HO Evaluation of Statutory Time Limit Pilots in the Youth Court (2000-2001) (with Prof Joanna Shapland, Pro John Jackson, Dr Angela Sorsby, Tamsin Stubbing, Marie Howes, funded by Home Office).
