Purpose Statement
Accommodation Services is committed to supporting the University’s Sustainable Travel Plan by advocating sustainable transport options. We maintain the offer of a limited number of resident car parking spaces at Bowsden Court. We also have a limited number of accessible bays at Kensington Terrace, Marris House, Park View and Windsor Terrace. This policy is a shared service initiative with Estates & Facilities.
Applicability and Scope
Our parking policy covers the arrangements and regulations concerning the parking of motor vehicles and bicycles in the private grounds of the University’s accommodation. We are using the term motor vehicle to cover any mechanically or electronically propelled vehicle, intended or adapted for use on roads and includes a motorcycle.

Permits are issued for a designated resident parking area at a specified residence only and are not valid for parking at any other accommodation or on campus. The permit is only to be used by the permit holder.
There is no provision for short-term parking for students during the academic year. Students moving into a residence part way through the year should contact reception to check availability and charges.

Permits must be displayed in the windscreen at all times. Vehicles must be parked within a marked bay, within the designated resident parking area at the specified residence on the permit. Vehicles must not be parked in any other area as this will result in enforcement action.
By entering and remaining on the property of the University, you agree to the conditions indicated on the parking notices displayed and are contracted to be legally bound by them.
If you breach any of the stated conditions, you will be issued with a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) and agree to pay the Parking Charge of £60 within 28 days, reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days. We have a limited number of spaces in lockable bike storage areas. These are available to book on a first come first served basis. Spaces are allocated for the full term of your contracted period. You must inform us if you no longer require your space or change your bike.
The bike storage is not insured, and your standard Personal Possessions Insurance (provided as part of your accommodation contract) does not cover bikes. We do not accept responsibility for any damage or loss when using the bike storage. You are advised to use a strong lock and to take out extended insurance cover. Your bike must be removed at the end of your contract period. Any bikes left after your contract period will be subject to our lost/left property policy.
We may occasionally need to suspend access to bike parking areas to enable maintenance access. We'll give you at least two weeks’ notice so that you can remove your bike. If you fail to do so, the bike will be removed.
All residents and visitors may use the outside bike racks on a first come, first served basis. You do not need to request permission. If you have any questions regarding bike storage, please feel free to reach out to your accommodation reception.
