The Finance subject group aims to shape the future of finance to promote societal wellbeing and sustainability.
We are passionate about finance. Our group conducts innovative research to address today’s biggest challenges. We push the boundaries of financial knowledge, and bring insight and enthusiasm into our programmes.
We give students the knowledge and skills to lead in a fast-changing financial world. Our expertise covers:

Our research focuses on financial econometrics, as well as behavioural and experimental methods. We collaborate across academic fields and with industry partners. Together we create practical solutions to global financial challenges.

Finance PhD
Students on our Finance PhD benefit from the diverse academic expertise of our supervisors. They specialise in a wide range of areas within finance.
This academic support is complemented by research seminars, which students can both participate in and present. It is also bolstered by formal training, eg, through the Topics in Finance module.
Our doctoral students are the academics of the future. We pride ourselves in our research environment and the training we provide through supervision meetings and PhD-level modules. Students actively engage with our research community and contribute to research events.
