Senior Lecturer Appointed Co-editor in Chief of The Journal of Culture and Organization

Dr Victoria Pagan, senior lecturer at Newcastle University Business School, has been appointed as part of a new editorial team at The Journal of Culture and Organization.

16 June 2026

Dr Victoria Pagan has been appointed as joint Co-editor in Chief of the Journal of Culture and Organization. She will work alongside Dr Marjana Johansson, a senior lecturer in organisational behaviour management from the University of Glasgow.

Raising marginalised voices, challenging mainstream conventions

The Journal of Culture and Organization is a leading journal that bridges the gap between arts and humanities and the social sciences. It publishes research across various disciplines including philosophy, performing arts, literary and art criticism and historical analysis.

After previously jointly holding the role of Associate Editor, Dr Pagan and Dr Johansson decided to jointly apply for the role of Co-editor in Chief when the position became available in January 2026. They will hold the position until January 2029.

Working as part of the editorial team, Dr Pagan will assess new submissions, supporting the publication of qualitative research on organisations, culture and related social phenomena.

Bringing a combination of scholarly leadership, editorial experience and strategic vision to the role, she aims to raise awareness of marginalised voices and challenge mainstream conventions during her tenure.

Reflecting on her appointment, she said:

"Culture and Organization is the first journal I ever published in. I am delighted to continue my engagement, having moved from Associate Editor to Co-editor in Chief.

"The journal is part of a very special community, including the Standing Conference on Organizational Symbolism (SCOS), offering a nurturing and creative space for academic work. We are currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, and I feel privileged to be part of its ongoing success."
