Description
Publicly listed companies have lately experienced a hike in their awareness of the importance of being ESG compliant and reporting their ESG endeavors properly. Different financial aspects have been explored in relation to the degree of firms’ ESG compliance by researchers nowadays, which provided the motivation to explore this field in further detail.
In particular, this research chose to focus on the relationship between the firms’ ESG scores, and the effect on their Cost of Equity (“COE”).
This research will present a theoretical framework detailing how the links between ESG and COE are theoretically apparent, and then empirically test the relationship in numerous ways.
The aims of this undertaking involve providing a comprehensive outlook of how the field’s latest research methods go about testing this relationship, as well as providing a comparative analysis of the results of our tests.
Ultimately, my research aspires to present key findings that will uncover the dynamics of the vital relationship between ESG scores and the COE, proving to be timely and essential to different key players in our financial system including banks, institutional investors, firms, regulators, and governments.
