A brief outline of the research project

Failed changes in grammar and syntax have been somewhat overlooked in the study of historical linguistics and language change. This project aims to assess the processes and factors contributing to the failure of syntactic changes and the decline of grammatical constructions in the history of English, with the aim of providing broader, systematic insight into this category of language change.
