Brief Outline of Research Project:

This research will look at how radical YA fantasy written in the twenty-first century reshape the racial relationship and depicts racial oppression in the texts. It will show why these radical texts have a transformative force that empowers fictional characters to question racial hegemony. This research will also examine the readers’ responses they write in the online community, and interrogate to what extent these texts can advocate young readers to rethink the racial issue in reality.
