Programme Regulations and Rules
Each programme has its own set of rules, which are called programme regulations. The regulations state which modules are compulsory, and how many credits you can take in a group of modules (e.g. pre-1800 modules for our literature programmes). To make the programme regulations easier to understand, we have complied module brochures, which you can access here. There will be a module brochure for each programme and stage, and you can find descriptions of modules alongside the regulations.
Programme regulations
The Programme Regulations for 2024-25 will be published here as soon as they are available.

Information about timetables
Once you have selected your modules, the timetabling team work very hard to ensure that most students are able to take their selection of modules without timetable clashes. Unfortunately we can't always guarantee that your selection of modules won't clash. At the beginning of semester 1 you will gain access to your timetable. We will get in touch with you if there are any "hard clashes".
If, later in the year, you wish to request a module change it will be your responsibility to ensure that the module timetable doesn't clash. You can do this by viewing the desktop timetable site.
Due to the complexities of the timetable and the work that has gone into structuring modules around set seminar groups, seminar changes will only be allowed in very exceptional circumstances.
If you would like to request a seminar change please email elll@ncl.ac.uk with your reason, the number seminar group you’re in and the number of the group you wish to change to. You can find these seminar numbers by searching for the module timetable on the desktop timetable site. We made these How to use Student Timetables instructions to help you check your timetables for clashes.
Once received, your request will then be considered by representatives of the Learning and Teaching team. The deadline for you to request a seminar change is usually the end of Semester 1 Teaching Week 2.
