Overview

Research in this theme is concerned with the evolution and restructuring of urban and regional economies, with a particular focus on processes of post-industrial & energy transition. It incorporates long-standing CURDS research on innovation, finance and labour markets, alongside engagement with contemporary debates on evolutionary economic geography, global production networks and ‘just transition’. Informed by a range of theoretical frameworks and employing multiple methodologies, this research is concerned with the linkages and connections between cities and regions and broader processes of economic restructuring such as globalisation and de-globalisation, technological change, financialisation, energy transition and state capitalism.
