Open Access status messages in MyImpact
MyImpact Status Messages
Publications in MyImpact are assessed against the open access requirements for REF and given an eligiblity status as below. Further guidance is available in the MyImpact Training and User Guides (Internal access only).
REF Open Access Eligibility Status | What this means | What the author should do |

The output’s publication status is one of the following:

When the output is published, click on ‘Edit’ and update the publication status to: Published. |
Deposit pending | The author should upload the author accepted manuscript within the number of days indicated. | Click on ‘Manage Full Text’ and upload your author accepted manuscript. |
Acceptance deposit missed | The full text was not uploaded within 90 days of the acceptance date; however, there is still time to upload the full text within 90 days of the publication date. | Click on ‘Manage Full Text’ and upload your author accepted manuscript. |
Deposit awaiting check | The full text has been uploaded and is waiting to be checked by the Library. | No further action required by the authors. |
Embargo period > 12 months | Embargo period exceeds allowed maximum. |
Apply for a REF OA Exception via MyImpact. Authors in HASS whose publication has an embargo of up to 24 months do not need to apply for an exception as this will be applied automatically. |
Deposited within 90 days | The author accepted manuscript was uploaded within 90 days of either the acceptance date or the publication date and it has been processed by the Library. The publication has therefore met the REF OA requirements and is eligible for REF submission. | No further action required. |
Not deposited within 90 days | The full text was not uploaded within the required timescale. | Request a REF OA exception via MyImpact. |
Access pending | The uploaded full text has been processed, but is not yet open access in ePrints. | No further action required from authors. |
Not accessible within 30 days | The publication was not made open access within 30 days of the manuscript upload or 30 days of the end of the manuscript’s embargo (whichever is applicable). |
No further action required from authors. Faculty research managers will be made aware of this status. |
Not applicable | The output’s publication date is outside of the current REF period. | No further action required. |
No publication date | The record does not contain a publication date. |
Either: click on ‘Edit’ and add the required date Or: click on ‘Request Change’ and inform the Library of the publication date. |

Either: the publication has been identified as published gold open access; Or: the output’s publication type is something other than Article or Conference Proceedings with an ISSN (as REF OA requirements only apply to these publication types); Or: an exception has been applied to the output. |
