Finding specialist information types

10 March 2025

Our catalogue, Library Search is a great place to start your information search for essays, projects or larger pieces of research, and with an 'everything' search you can find a wide range of information types. However, there may be times when you need to look for a particular type of information and in order to find it, you'll need a more specialised database.

This is where our Resource Guides can help, as they organise the different types of information available from the Library, pulling together recommended sources with advice for finding and using them effectively. There are guides to everything from audiovisual materials, company information, market research, and government publications, to maps, newspapers, standards, theses and dissertations, and more.

The Library subscribes to wide variety of different databases and if you’re not sure which ones are good for your subject area or topic of interest then we have got that covered too. For this, you’ll want to take a look at our Subject Guides. These guides bring together information sources that the Library Liaison Team know are relevant and can help save you time if you are looking for information in your discipline.
