Study Well@NCL

Advice and support to help you study well.

We know it can be stressful in the Library at certain times of the year, especially when exams are looming and assignment deadlines are creeping closer.  To help support you the Library, in partnership with Newcastle University Students Union (NUSU), Student Wellbeing and the Chaplaincy Team, run Study Well@NCL, a campaign advocating a responsible approach to studying and encouraging positive behaviours in study spaces.

Below you'll find useful advice, key resources and relaxing events to help you study well.

Study space

During the exam period Library study spaces are at a premium so it's important to think in advance about the kind of study space you need.

There are a variety of open study spaces and bookable rooms located across our four library buildings, including designated silent, quiet and collaborative areas so you can choose a space to suit your needs. You can also check study space availability across campus.

If you're struggling to find a place to work in the Library, talk to a member of staff, and we will be happy to try and help you find a space.

To help support others please be mindful of the space you’re using. If it’s a silent study space and you need to talk, use an alternative location.

If you’re being disturbed by noise in a silent study space you can text our Noise Alert Service 07981 484 764 and we will send someone to investigate.

Help keep our building environment clean for others to use by removing your rubbish, and observe the eating and drinking policy on our floors so that other people aren’t distracted.

Study support

We have a wealth of resources available to help support your studies. Our specialist staff from the Library Liaison Team and Academic Skills Team are here to support you through a variety of one-to-one sessions, Your Skills events, and online content available via the Academic Skills Kit.
