Aims
This module is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge of the risk and uncertainty management in project management, by exploring strategic and tactical issues associated with the implementation of effective risk management practices, and assuring successful transition in managing projects. It is also aimed to reinforce the contingency and complexity in managing risks and uncertainties in different cases by considering both external and internal stakeholders and resources.
Outline Of Syllabus
Planning and executing project risk management – Risk identification, Risk analysis
Contingency management –organizational environment, organisational change, Contingency planning
Conflict resolution in stakeholder engagement for managing a project
Resource optimisation- information management, time management, e.g. Resource levelling and smoothing options,
Assurance and maturity – audits and assurance
Transition – adoption and benefits realisation, business readiness, e.g. the benefits realisation cycle
Engagement stakeholders – stakeholders, social context
Leading project team - Organisational culture, team development, diversity and inclusion, workplace stress

Teaching Rationale And Relationship
Lectures introduce theoretical knowledge, analytical tools and industrial cases that relates to managing risks and uncertainties in projects. Seminars will allow students to reflect on the learning outcomes and materials in order to enhance their skills in implementing theories and analytical tools.
