Psychological Therapies Training and Research Clinic
Who are we?
The Psychological Therapies Training and Research Clinic (PTTRC) gives students access to psychological therapy at Newcastle University. This provides early intervention for common mental health issues in student life. The clinic sees students from all Faculties within the university. Our Student Health and Wellbeing Service refers them following a screening assessment. We are very accessible, being centrally located on campus.
The treatment we provide is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). CBT is a talking therapy that aims to help people manage their difficulties. CBT does this by adapting and responding differently to the way they think, feel, and do things. This evidence-based treatment is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). It's used as a treatment for common mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. Find out more about how CBT works by viewing this short video.
The clinic team
Mma Yeebo, Clinical Psychologist leads the clinic.

- qualified clinicians (Clinical Psychologists and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapists)
- trainee therapists studying on our NHS funded psychological professions training programmes
What happens when you come to the clinic?
Upon referral, we'll contact you over email to get some more details about you and your needs. We will also offer you an assessment. After your assessment, we'll let you know what the plan is. We'll whether we can see you or whether we'll need to refer you to another service.
