Background
I am a Lecturer in Synthetic Biology in the Interdisciplinary Computing and Complex Biosystems (ICOS) group in the School of Computing. Originally training as an engineer I then went on to study computer science at University College London, and later completed a PhD in Synthetic Biology at Cambridge University.
Research
My research focuses on the intersection of computational biology, complex systems theory, and engineering biology. We aim to develop a complete Design-Build-Test-Learn cycle for self-organized multicellular behaviours, with a variety of potential applications from tissue engineering to industrial biotechnology. In order to do this we develop mathematical and software tools, and apply them using advanced genetic engineering techniques, microfluidics and microscopy, as well as robotic automation.
For my publications please see GoogleScholar.
Teaching
I teach two modules as part of the MSc in Synthetic Biology; CSC8327 Introduction to Synthetic Biology, and CSC8328 Advanced Synthetic Biology.
