Critical Skills for Life and Work: Developing the Professional Intercultural Communicative Competence of Highly-Skilled Refugees was an Erasmus+ funded project (2017-2019). It involved many researchers from Applied Linguistics & Communication:
The project also involved partners from:
- Universitaet Graz (Austria)
- Fryske Akademy (The Netherlands)
- Action Foundation (UK)
The aim of the project was to design and implement training tools. In particular, tools for enhancing key skills and competences of highly-skilled refugees and the language teachers who work with them. So as to enhance the employability and societal integration of skilled refugees.
The project culminated in the Critical Skills for Life and Work Conference in June 2019. The conference was attended by a mix of:
- academics
- refugee professionals
- language teachers
- people working for refugee charities and other agencies
