When you enrol at Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed), you’re not just getting a world-class education; you’re also obtaining an unforgettable campus experience!  While you'll dive into solid academics, there's so much more waiting for you beyond the classroom. Our student-led associations and clubs work tirelessly to bring you an array of exciting traditions and activities that enrich your journey. Get ready to embrace the unique spirit of our campus and discover the fun and camaraderie that makes your time here truly special!

Kick off your journey at NUMed with our exciting Orientation Day! Usually held on the weekend following registration and university induction, this event is a fantastic way for new students to get acquainted with the campus and meet their seniors. With a lineup of ice-breaking activities and games, you’ll have a wonderful time connecting with fellow students and settling into your new home. It’s the perfect start to making the most of your next few years here!

If you’re looking for your kindred spirits, don’t miss out on the annual Club Fest. Held every October, it introduces new students to the myriad of clubs and societies available here. During this time, students will interact with the various club representatives and find out more about the clubs available via fun games and activities, merchandise stalls, and member recruitment drives.

A fun-filled event aimed at bringing students and staff closer together is Spirit Week, during which the entire campus community will dress up according to daily themes, such as “FBI Day”, “Island Vibes”, and “Cultural Day”. This is a great way to foster a sense of community AND have a blast!

At NUMed, we’re all about celebrating diversity, and one of the best ways we do that is through our annual Cultural Fest in November, where our clubs and societies represent different countries, sharing their unique traditions, delicious food, and colourful attire. You’ll also find some awesome items for sale and, in some years, fundraising efforts for great causes. It’s a fun and meaningful way to embrace cultures from around the world.

As a tertiary education institution focused on health sciences, NUMed also organises a host of events prioritising the physical and mental well-being of both our campus community and the wider public.

One of the events that everyone looks forward to is the MBBS Year 5 Health Camp. Put together by our MBBS students with help from our faculty and local NGOs, the health camp takes place at nearby schools, offering free health screenings, and fun sports and activities for the kids and local youth. This way, our students can give back and make a real impact on the health and well-being of the community.

Besides that, our Student Support team organises Mental Health Week in conjunction with World Mental Health Day in October. This event is packed with engaging talks and activities aimed at boosting mental wellbeing. Students can also get involved by wearing green to raise awareness about mental health.

Another highly anticipated event is our off-campus World Anatomy Day event, which aligns with the global World Anatomy Day in October. Organised by our Anatomy Working Group (AWG), the event engages with the local community to raise awareness of human anatomy and health-related careers via quizzes, interactive sessions, competitions, and more.

Other annual activities you can look forward to include the Pre-Medical Workshop and Oral Health Camp, both hosted by our Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) Newcastle, as well as the Paediatrics Conference, Surgical Workshop, visits to orphanages and senior homes, beach cleanups, and so much more—all organised by our amazing clubs and societies.

And for anyone ready to hit the dance floor and have a little fun, we’ve got two big events you won’t want to miss! The Graduation Ball, organised by our Year 5 students, usually takes place before the official graduation ceremony in July. Additionally, there’s the NUMed Ball, a chance for everyone on campus to come together and celebrate in style.

At NUMed, there’s always something fun and exciting that you can check out.
