Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) is an international branch campus of Newcastle University, UK. This includes the provision of proper support for various aspects of its students’ lives.

For one, NUMed offers Health-Wellbeing Support to take care of their health, safety and academic needs. Furthermore, campus security is available day and night for their peace of mind.

Students at NUMed are also given Career Support. They can now book an appointment with the university’s career counsellors in order to discuss their career planning and pathways, which includes getting access to valuable contacts and information and gaining better insights on how to build their curriculum vitae. Besides that, the university hosts career talks to give them a better understanding of the current demands of the professional world, in addition to internship, research, and further education opportunities where they are able to garner first-hand experience in various fields.

As NUMed welcomes students from across the globe, English may not be everyone’s first language. Hence, the university offers Language Support, especially for those who feel left behind when it comes to communicating not only in English but also in Bahasa Malaysia. Students will be given the opportunity to learn in small groups or from their peers who are fluent in the language. This will help them to feel more comfortable in communicating with patients and the local communities in the country, whether during their studies or upon graduation.

On top of that, at NUMed, students' mental health is given utmost importance. In order to support its students' learning journeys, NUMed has a mentorship programme, whereby the students are assigned mentors who will help them to optimise their university experience and develop their professional as well as intrapersonal talents. Among others, they are required to meet with their mentors before and after tests as well as during their orientation week.
