Weight Management Clinic
Shadowing volunteer opportunities are being offered through ‘RISE’ for students interested in gaining first hand experience following the delivery of the Physical Activity Clinical Champion training (PACC) with Newcastle University Medical students.
This opportunity will be offered through RISE and their existing projects in the local community. RISE are currently operating in local communities across 4 different areas in the region; Gateshead, Newcastle (West), South Tyneside (Marsden) and Sunderland (Washington). There are 2 ongoing clinics operating in these areas, ‘Frailty’ and ‘Weight Management’.
This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone interested in the physical activity and health field as an element of their medical school experience.
The sessions currently run on an 8 weeks programme with 16-22 different members on either of the workshops. The programme starts with an initial GP referral and screening meeting for the individual which then gives them the opportunity to take up the course, with the ‘Frailty’ based sessions taking place on an afternoon and the ‘Weight Management’ on an evening.
