Aims

The module aims to teach students the practical aspects of conducting research in management and business studies.

Outline Of Syllabus

The module will teach students the fundamentals of conducting, writing up and disseminating high quality and impactful scholarly research. Students will be taught by research-active scholars from a range of business and management subjects, who will share their practical advice on all aspects of the process of conducting research.

The syllabus will cover aspects of the research process such as:
1. Conducting literature reviews
2. Methods of connecting theory to data
3. Managing relationships with research stakeholders
4. Publishing your research in peer-reviewed journals
5. Peer reviewing for academic journals

Teaching Rationale And Relationship

The module will consist of lectures taught by research-active academic staff on aspects of research practice, coupled with hands-on activities in seminars where students will engage with activities related to the aspect of research practice (e.g. conducting literature searches, peer reviewing academic papers, etc.).
