St Nicholas’ Educational Trust Scholarship

This scholarship supports students coming to Newcastle University from Newcastle and the surrounding area.

About the scholarship

The St Nicholas Educational Trust donated this award. Their aim is to ensure that young people from Newcastle upon Tyne can have the benefit of a good education.

Number of awards

Up to four scholarships are available. 

Scholarship amount

£1,250 per year for your first 3 years of study.

Eligibility criteria

Scholarships are available for those in Year 1 of an undergraduate programme at Newcastle University. They must commence their degree in September 2023.

To be eligible for this award you must:

  • be a Year 1 undergraduate student in any discipline
  • be under the age of 25 years by the time you conclude your undergraduate degree
  • have been resident within the boundaries of Newcastle upon Tyne for five years or more (postcodes include NE1, NE2, NE3, NE4, NE5, NE6, NE7, NE12, NE13, and NE15)
  • be in need of financial assistance

How to apply

We will award scholarships to up to four undergraduate students. They will come from a widening participation background and/or have low household incomes. No application is necessary.

Notice of award

We will inform you by advancementscholarships@newcastle.ac.uk by December 2023 if you are successful. The Student Financial Support Team may also contact you.

Conditions

We ask all scholarship recipients to provide an introductory profile when they first receive the award. They must also provide an annual update report in spring/summer to inform their donor of their progress.

We will contact to provide these reports with plenty of notice. Recipients must be available to meet the donors if requested. We may also expect you to take part in the promotion of student support activity at Newcastle University.
