Taught Master’s Study

What is a Taught Master’s?

Taught Master’s courses, are level 7 qualifications which you can carry out after completing a Bachelor’s degree. They're also known as postgraduate taught courses. Studying at this level is an opportunity to dive deeper into a subject you are passionate about. Build the professional skills valued by employers.

A taught Master’s is typically more common than a research Master’s. It follows a similar pattern of study as an undergraduate degree. Students complete a set of modules while taking part in lectures, seminars, group work and technical skills.

Most taught Master’s degrees require a dissertation or major research project at the end of your course.

Types of courses

A taught Master’s is awarded for the successful completion of:

  • 120 credits of taught modules
  • a 60 credit dissertation or research project.
