Research Funding Development Manager
The Research Funding Development Team provides support and advice for researchers to enhance their research funding applications. I support the Faculty of Medical Sciences to maximise external research funding for the faculty.
The Research Funding Development Team provides:
- advice on funder strategy, forthcoming plans and opportunities;
- project management support for large and complex funding applications;
- visits and information sessions from funders;
- 'in house' funding information and training sessions;
- advice on finding funding;
- advice on preparing funding applications;
- lay review of funding applications.

Background
Upon completion of my MA at Newcastle, I worked in a variety of research support roles at Northumbria University, namely providing pre-award support to academic colleagues. I moved into funding development at Teesside University and I joined Newcastle University in 2022, as a Contracts Manager in the Research Grants and Contracts Team. I moved into my current role, Research Funding Development Manager, in August 2024.
