Senior Research Funding Development Manager – Translational Research and Experimental Medicine
The Research Funding Development Team provides support and advice for researchers to enhance their research funding applications. I lead the Faculty of Medical Sciences Research Funding Development Team and work strategically to maximise external research funding for the faculty.
The Research Funding Development Team provides:
- advice on funder strategy, forthcoming plans and opportunities;
- project management support for large and complex funding applications;
- visits and information sessions from funders;
- 'in house' funding information and training sessions;
- advice on finding funding;
- advice on preparing funding applications;
- lay review of funding applications.

Background
I am a Newcastle University graduate having completed both my undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications here. Upon completion of my PhD, I worked in a variety of roles in industry before joining Durham University’s Research and Innovation Services, initially in Research Grants and Contracts and then Research Funding Development. I joined Newcastle University in 2020, as the Research Funding Development Manager for the Newcastle Wellcome Trust Translational Partnership before moving in to my current role.
