UK Qualifications

Entrance Requirements For: BD64

A Levels

AAB including at least one science subject (preferably Biology or Chemistry) but excluding General Studies. Home Economics/Food Technology will be considered instead of Biology. Chemistry is preferred at A/AS level but not essential. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A levels, we require a pass in the practical element. Mathematics, and Chemistry or Dual Award Science, required at GCSE (minimum grade B or 6) if not offered at A/AS level.

Scottish Qualifications

AAABB at Higher Grade including at least one science subject. Advanced Higher Biology and/or another science subject normally required. Chemistry desirable at Higher Grade but not essential.

Alternatively, ABB at Advanced Higher Grade with at least one science subject, preferably biology or chemistry.

Mathematics and Chemistry required at National 5, minimum grade B (or grade 2 Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 equivalent) if not offered at Higher Grade.  Where a candidate bypasses the assessment for National 5 qualifications, a minimum of grade C in the Higher Mathematics and Chemistry is required.

Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.

International Baccalaureate

34 points preferably including Higher Level Biology at Grade 6 or above. Chemistry preferred at Higher Level but not essential. Mathematics or Mathematical Studies and Chemistry required at Standard Level grade 5 or above if not offered at Higher Level.

Irish Leaving Certificate

H1H1H1H2H3 at Higher Level, preferably including Chemistry/Biology, Mathematics and another science subject.

Access Qualifications

45 level 3 credits at Distinction including 15 credits in biological sciences. Chemistry and mathematics or quantitative methods units are desirable.

Cambridge Pre-U

D3,D3,M2 in Principal Subjects normally including Biology and another science subject. Chemistry is preferred as a principal subject, but not essential. GCSE Mathematics, and Chemistry or Dual Award Science, required at minimum grade B or 6 if not offered as principal subjects.

PARTNERS - A Levels

BBC including at least one science subject (preferably Biology or Chemistry) but excluding General Studies. Home Economics/Food Technology will be considered instead of Biology. PARTNERS - Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma/OCR Cambri

A science-related subject at overall DDM, to include biological and chemical science as essential units at Merit grade.

PARTNERS - Scots Quals

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma/OCR Cambridge Technic

A science-related subject with substantial biology and chemistry units at overall DDD.

Extended Project Qualification

If you offer the Level 3 Extended Project Qualification in a topic relevant to the degree programme, we will vary our offer to recognise this.
