Entrance Requirements For: LN12

A Levels

AAB excluding General Studies. While we are willing to consider any combination of A-level subjects (excluding General Studies), we prefer students to be studying two of the following:

  • Mathematics
  • Further Mathematics
  • English Literature
  • Physics
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Geography
  • History
  • Languages
  • Economics or Business Studies*
  • Government and Politics
  • Statistics

*We do not consider the two taken together as two of the preferred subjects.

GCSE Mathematics grade A or 7 and English grade B or 6 required if not taken at A or AS level.

Scottish Qualifications

AAABB at Higher Grade. Mathematics required at National 5, minimum grade A (or grade 1 Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 equivalent) and English required at National 5, minimum grade B (or grade 2 Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 equivalent) if not offered at Higher Grade.  Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted. Where a candidate bypasses the assessment for National 5 qualifications, a minimum of grade B in the Higher in Maths and grade C in the Higher English is required.

International Baccalaureate

35 points. Standard Level Mathematics or Mathematical Studies and English (Language and/or Literature) required at grade 5 if not offered at Higher Level.

Access Qualifications

45 Level 3 credits at Distinction to include at least 6 credits in maths or quantitative methods.

D3,D3,M2 in Principal Subjects. GCSE Mathematics at grade A or 7 and English at minimum grade B or 6 required if not taken at a higher level.

Extended Project Qualification

We welcome applications from students offering an Extended Project and value the skills of research and independent learning that it is designed to develop.  If you offer an Extended Project, it will be taken into account as part of your application profile, but we will not usually include it in offer conditions for this degree programme.

Additional Information on GCSEs (or equivalent)

Achievement of a minimum of five GCSE grades A*-C or 8-4, or equivalent, is normally required. These must include Mathematics (minimum grade A or 7) and English (minimum grade B or 6), or equivalent.
