Aims

The aim of this module is to provide the skills and technology that underlie the construction of hydroinformatic systems. The module will utilise a range of software tools that will allow participants to design and construct hydroinformatic tools to support state-of-the-art hydrological and hydraulic concepts.

The lectures underpin the computer practicals. This is a “hands on” course allowing students to build concrete skills. The 100% coursework exercise is built up across the week. A separate flexible learning package is given out before the module commences.

This course does not suit a paper exam. The 100% coursework exercise is a substantial software development exercise, calling upon all the skills learned on the course. Part 1 is VBA Programming and Part 2 is Web + GIS Tools.
