Aims

Over the module the student will gain a broad understanding of visualisation techniques, how to communicate technical information through drawing and Urban Design analysis. Although it will not be broached in the first year the hope would be the student would begin to appreciate, through their own analysis, why the environment they have chosen is successful.

Outline Of Syllabus

The module explores the ways in which designs can be presented visually in the form of technical drawings and visualisations and gives the student to tools to create their own versions of these. The students will choose an existing building to create an elevational drawing and ‘street scape’ visualisation for. The syllabus will cover;
- The need for visual medium in planning/architecture/design
- The difference between visualisations and technical drawing
- Introduction to the assignment and Sketchup
- How to survey a house for their assignment.
- How to create a street using a map and their house as a component off the street
- Creating Planning Drawings using Sketchup Layout
- Creating a A1 poster using InDesign, creating location diagram, importing images.
