Tony Sorial
Academic Orthopaedic Surgeon
I am an academic orthopaedic surgeon with a focus on arthritis and ageing research. I have been associated with Newcastle University since 2016 when I moved to the region as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow. In that time, I have used my links with the University to work closely with an excellent group of academic supervisors and mentors. With these crucial relationships, and the support of the University, I built an application for an externally funded doctoral training fellowship, which was successfully awarded in 2020.
My work was supported through the input of patient advocates, facilitated by the VOICE organisation, which was founded at Newcastle University.
Being associated with the University allowed me to combine my Royal College of Surgeons Shears Northern Fellowship with an application to the Wellcome Trust 4Ward North Clinical PhD academy
