Vicky Brocklebank
Renal / General Internal Medicine Trainee
I am a renal/general internal medicine trainee and currently in the second year of my Medical Research Council/Kidney Research UK funded Clinical Research Training Fellowship. My PhD is investigating the genetic architecture of a rare kidney disease, atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome. It comprises an enjoyable combination of laboratory research, clinical research and involvement in clinical trials.
During my fellowship I have had maternity leave and switched to working less than full time. I have felt extremely well supported by Newcastle University, my PhD supervisors and my funders in my endeavours to both advance my research and fulfil my childcare responsibilities.
