Academic Clinical Lectureship in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery
My research interest is in translational research within the upper aerodigestive tract, with a focus on the prevention and treatment of airway infection/inflammation in children and adults. I have been a NIHR Clinical Lecturer since 2018.
Prior to this I completed my Wellcome trust funded PhD at Newcastle University (2014 – 2017) entitled ‘Subglottic host defence in prolonged intubation’. As a surgeon scientist balancing the demands of clinical and academic training is always a challenge. I have found Newcastle and the North East to be an extremely supportive environment for clinical academics.
