Academic Clinical Lectureship in Psychiatry
I’m a ST4 in psychiatry and just completed my first year as an ACF. This means that I applied for my ACF mid-way through core training. It says a lot about the academic community in Newcastle that I was encouraged to do this by my supervisor, after working in the NHS for just a couple of years.
I quickly felt at home in the academic psychiatry department, and have found it very easy to collaborate with other departments. Plus, Newcastle is a lovely place to live, with lots of opportunities and a nice friendly atmosphere. If you’re interested in mental health and academia, come to the North East.
