Niina Kolehmainen
NIHR Clinical Senior Lectureship
I moved to Newcastle with a post-doctoral MRC Population Health Scientist award in 2012, secured an NIHR ICA Senior Clinical Lectureship in 2016, and was promoted to Reader in Allied Child Health in 2020. Newcastle University Faculty of Medical Sciences has provided a diverse, interdisciplinary environment that has allowed me to explore a range of novel research questions by integrating expertise across the population health, clinical, and biosciences. Beyond the science itself, Newcastle University, with its close NHS partnerships and tailored clinical academic career support, has provided an environment where I have been enabled to serve in increasingly demanding, interdisciplinary roles and to grow as a leader as well as a scientist.
