Staff Profile
I am currently an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Immunology in the Translational and Clinical Research Institute. During my PhD at Newcastle University between 2015-2018 I investigated the recovery of thymopoiesis, the mechanisms of action and the quality of life in a paediatric patients with acute graft-versus-host disease treated with extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP). I now split my time between clinical work at the Great North Children's Hospital and continuing my academic work.
My research interests are how immune tolerance develops post haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), the impact of thymic damage and impaired thymopoiesis on immune reconstitution and tolerance, and the development of complications related to failure of tolerance such as graft-versus-host disease.
