Staff Profile
I am a postdoc researcher within the Human Nutrition Research Centre on the nutrition and colorectal cancer project (COLO-COHORT). Specifically, designing and delivering longitudinal follow-up data collection and disseminating baseline data.
I completed my undergraduate degree (BSc Hons) in Human Nutrition at Northumbria University, Newcastle, and then a Master's (MSc) in Nutrition & Genetics at St. Mary’s University, London. I finished my PhD (bioinformatics) at the Department of Twin Research & Genetic Epidemiology (King’s College London, London) using TwinsUK and ZOE PREDICT-1 data to explore the relationships between gut microbes, metabolites, diet, and hypertension. During which, I was also able to work on several other projects, including the COVID-19 Symptom Study app. Following my PhD, I stayed at the Department of Twin Research & Genetic Epidemiology investigating novel molecular and dietary biomarkers associated with cardiometabolic diseases through the integration of dietary data, several omics datasets (metabolomics from multiple biofluids, the gut microbiome, the glycome), alongside other clinical biomarkers and phenotypes, in a systems biology approach.
